TVMA Board Meeting – October 29, 2002, Galveston, Texas

Call to order -                        12:00 pm  

There is an announcement that Paul Hurysz has resigned as Vice President.  Recognized Paul for a great job.  

Position of President – Anne Beard is nominated to serve a second term as President.  No other nominations.  Passes.  

Position of Vice President – Nominees are Steve White and Tim Bingaman.  Steve and Tim tell some about each other.  Call for votes.  Steve White is elected.  

Scholarship Fishing Tourney update – Cynthia Heintze reported Dennis Markwardt won with a 34” Black Drum.  He received free passes to the IMAX in Houston, Texas.  

Scholarship report – Steve White reported eight recipients for a total of $3k .  Brian Walker, Jessica Rose, Brandee Williams, Emily King, Forest Sentinella, Robert Ebby III, Ryan Stout and Micah Beierle are the winners.  

Position of Secretary/Editor – Cynthia Heintze is nominated.  No other nominations.  Passes.  

Position of Treasurer – Myron Rabalais is nominated.  No other nominations.  Passes.  

Position of Director/Supplier – Stan Jones is nominated.  No other nominations.  Passes.  

Position of Director/Contractor – Chris Dray is nominated.  No other nominations. Passes. 

Position of Director/At Large – Nominations are George Pylant, Craig Johnson, and Tim Bingaman.  There is a run off between Craig Johnson and Tim Bingaman.  Both offer remarks.  Position of Director/At Large – Craig Johnson is elected.  

Remarks by Anne Beard 

Recap of TVMA goals and vision.

1.        TVMA needs to be more active in legislature.  1st Annual Legislative Dinner in Austin in 3/02.  We expect this to become an annual event.

2.        TVMA to become the unified voice of the industry.  Direct impact on state policy i.e. develop standardized fact sheet for ROW clearance.

Goals for 2003:

Need to get the membership more involved. 

Mentioned the 1st annual CEU conference in Lubbock. 

Introduction of CD and video taped of 2002 Conference. These will be available for checkout and CEU’s. 

Additional remarks recognizing Paul H, Chris Dray, Ron Held and C. Heintze.  Recognized LCRA and other sponsors. Renewed commitment to 2nd year as president. 

Scholarship Golf Tourney – if you request, a refund will be given.  A pitch was given to donate fees to the Scholarship Fund in spite of it being cancelled. 

Field Tours have been cancelled – substitute session available.  Field Tour commemorative ball caps are available. 

There will be a Board Meeting at 7am on 10/30/02 for all new and current Officers and Directors.
